OSSC Senior Store Inspector Vacancy 2026

The OSSC has released a total of 07 vacancies for the post of Civil Defence Instructor / Senior Store Inspector, including 02 posts reserved for women candidates, and the category-wise vacancy distribution will be provided in the detailed notification

OSSC Senior Store Inspector Eligibility Criteria 2026 

The OSSC Senior Store Inspector Eligibility Criteria 2026 require candidates to have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university along with basic computer knowledge. The age limit as of 01.01.2025 is 21 to 32 years, with age relaxation of 5 years for SC, ST, SEBC, and Women candidates, and relaxation for Ex-Servicemen as per government norms. 

Other Eligibility Conditions

Along with educational and age criteria, candidates must also fulfill the following:

  • Must be an Indian citizen. 
  • Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak Odia
  • Must have passed Middle School with Odia as a subject, Matriculation with Odia as the medium of examination, or Class VII or above with Odia as a subject
  • Alternatively, candidates can qualify through a test in Odia (M.E. School standard) conducted by the School & Mass Education Department, Government of Odisha.  

OSSC Senior Store Inspector Selection Process 2026

The selection process will consist of five stages, as given below:

  • Stage 1- Preliminary Examination 
  • Stage 2- Physical Measurement & Physical Test (Qualifying) 
  • Stage 3- Main Written Examination 
  • Stage 4- Viva-Voce-cum-Psychological Test 
  • Stage 1- Certificate Verification 

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination

  • Mode: Online (CBRE Mode) 

  • Type: Objective Type 

  • Duration: 1 Hour 

  • Total Marks: 100 

  • Nature: Qualifying only 

  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer 


Stage 2: Physical Measurement & Physical Test (Qualifying) 

Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Exam will have to appear for Physical Measurement and Physical Efficiency Tests (PET), which are qualifying in nature

(a) Physical Standard Measurements

For Men:

  • UR/SEBC – Height: 168 cm, Weight: 55 kg, Chest: 79–84 cm
  • SC/ST – Height: 163 cm, Weight: 50 kg, Chest: 76–81 cm


For Women:

  • UR/SEBC – Height: 155 cm, Weight: 47.5 kg
  • SC/ST – Height: 150 cm, Weight: 45 kg


(b) Physical Efficiency Tests

For Men:

  • Running 1.6 km in 8 minutes 
  • Cycling 1.6 km in 5 minutes 
  • Long Jump – 3.66 m (3 attempts) 
  • Cross-country – 5 km in 40 minutes 
  • Running 100 m with 10 low hurdles (77 cm) in 25 seconds 
  • High Jump – 1.22 m (3 chances) 
  • Swimming – 100 m 
  • Rope Climbing – 6 m (3 chances) 
  • Ladder Climbing – 8 m (3 chances) 


For Women:

  • Running 1.6 km in 10 minutes
  • Cycling 1.6 km in 7 minutes
  • Long Jump – 2.77 m (3 attempts)
  • Cross-country – 4 km in 40 minutes
  • Running 80 m with 10 low hurdles (77 cm) in 25 seconds
  • High Jump – 1.00 m (3 chances)
  • Swimming – 100 m
  • Rope Climbing – 5 m (3 chances) 
  • Ladder Climbing – 8 m (3 chances) 

Stage 3: Main Written Examination (Total 350 Marks)

The Main Written Examination consists of four papers carrying a total of 350 marks. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-III (General Studies).
Candidates must qualify the Computer Skill Test separately to be considered for final selection.

  • Paper-I: General English – 50 marks, duration 1 hour 30 minutes. This will be a descriptive type paper.
  • Paper-II: Odia Language – 50 marks, duration 1 hour 30 minutes. This paper will also be descriptive type.
  • Paper-III: General Studies – 200 marks, duration 3 hours. It will be an objective type test conducted in CBRE mode (Computer Based Recruitment Exam).
  • Paper-IV: Computer Skill Test – 50 marks, duration 45 minutes. This paper is qualifying in nature, and candidates must secure a minimum of 17 marks to qualify. 

Stage 4: Viva-Voce-cum-Psychological Test

  • Total Marks: 30
  • Candidates who qualify the Main Written Examination will be called for this stage.
  • Marks obtained here will be added to the final merit list.
